A heroic performance from Wyatt Bishop has brought national recognition to Medicine Hat.

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers golfer secured a prestigious silver medal at the 2025 CCAA Ping National Golf Championship, held right here at the Dessert Blume Golf Club.

Bishop was a dominant force throughout the tournament, overcoming challenging weather conditions to deliver a spectacular showing for the hometown crowd.

He fired a blistering 67 in the second roundβ€”the lowest score of the eventβ€”finishing with a four-day total of 277, just two shots off the lead.

This incredible result earned him the title of CCAA All-Canadian and a nomination for ACAC Athlete of the Week.

The entire community, from Medicine Hat College to local golf fans, is celebrating this monumental achievement that places Bishop among Canada's elite collegiate athletes.

Beneath the pristine fairways of the historic Edmonton Country Club lies a dark and tragic secret.

In the summer of 1952, a club cook named Phyllis Carter was brutally murdered by her husband, Reginald, in the clubhouse kitchen.

He then took his own life near the 18th green, forever tying their spirits to the grounds.

For decades since, staff have reported that the ghost of Phyllis Carter still haunts the building.

Disembodied chopping sounds from the empty kitchen, objects flying off shelves, and an unnerving feeling of being watched are common experiences.

But Phyllis may not be alone.

Late-night visitors have claimed to see a headless figure near the 18th hole, accompanied by overwhelming feelings of anger and despair.

This chilling local legend serves as a reminder that even Edmonton's most beautiful places can hold very dark secrets.

Gear Reviews

As Alberta's golf courses prepare to change seasons, it’s a crucial time to assess if your equipment is holding you back.

This year, the key word for drivers is forgiveness.

New models are designed with maximum stability to keep mishits in the fairway, a huge advantage for the average golfer in Alberta.

In the long game, consider higher-lofted fairway woods.

Many amateurs will find a 5-wood or 7-wood easier to launch and more consistent than a traditional 3-wood or long iron.

On the green, stable mallet putters continue to grow in popularity over blades, offering better alignment and a more reliable stroke.

Getting a professional club fitting is the best way to tailor these modern advantages to your swing, ensuring you’re ready for our unique local courses.
