News You Can Use

Keith Alexander rose from his roots in Vulcan, Alberta, to become a pivotal figure in the province’s golf legacy.

Son of a plaster contractor, Keith first turned serious about golf at age 20 after lessons in Calgary, igniting an extraordinary journey in the sport.

His skill quickly blossomed, leading to a career highlighted by a 1960 Canadian Amateur Championship win and six Alberta Amateur titles.

He represented Canada on 16 international teams and was later honored in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.

Keith’s collegiate years at the University of Colorado were just as notable, where he captained the golf team and achieved academic excellence.

He balanced golf with family, faith, community service, and careers ranging from publishing to provincial politics.

Keith’s lifelong devotion to both the sport and his Christian values inspired many, proving that a life well-lived means much more than success on the course.

Tiger Woods and his son Charlie have officially withdrawn from the PNC Championship, set for December 18–21 at Orlando’s Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

The decision follows Tiger’s slower-than-expected recovery from recent back surgery, as he shared during a press conference at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

Woods emphasized it would not be fair to occupy a tournament spot while still in rehabilitation, allowing another duo to experience the special family event.

After undergoing lumbar disc replacement in October, Tiger has resumed only light golf activities like chipping and putting.

While the Woods family’s absence marks a notable shift in the tournament, Tiger remains deeply involved in reshaping the PGA Tour’s future, championing new formats to boost fan and player engagement.

Fans are hopeful for his eventual return, inspired by his ongoing commitment both on and off the course.

Secret Hack

Scottie Scheffler delivered a commanding performance at Quail Hollow Club in May 2025, capturing his third major title at the PGA Championship.

His five-shot victory over rivals like Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English highlighted both his technical skill and impressive mental resilience.

Despite initial setbacks—including a difficult double bogey on the par-4 16th due to a challenging ‘mud ball’—Scheffler remained poised and undeterred.

For Alberta golfers, his approach offers a valuable lesson: unexpected course obstacles or tough weather can be turned into opportunities through composure and mental strength.

Staying focused, handling adversity, and not letting bad breaks disrupt the game are crucial takeaways.

Scheffler’s triumph proves that resilience and positivity are as essential as technical mastery for success on the golf course.
