Alberta's Junior Golf Scene Thrives with Inspiring Stories and New Initiatives

Young talents like Rachel Adamis and Bennett Love shine as Alberta Golf introduces exciting developments for 2025

Alberta's junior golf landscape is witnessing remarkable achievements and promising initiatives, highlighting the province's commitment to nurturing young talent.

One standout is 13-year-old Rachel Adamis, who clinched 11 victories on the McLennan Ross Alberta Junior Tour in 2025. Rachel's journey began at age three, and her dedication has not only honed her skills but also fostered lasting friendships within the golfing community. Her mother, Jennifer Tse, reflects on the sport's impact: "Golf has provided Rachel the opportunity to make new friends. She can talk about golf all the time, and her golf friends are just as excited to join in."

Beyond competition, golf has been therapeutic for Rachel, especially after the loss of her father in 2021. The sport has offered solace and a means to strengthen family bonds during challenging times. Jennifer shares, "Golfing kept us busy and focused. It helped us both mourn our loss and allowed us bonding time to strengthen our relationship."

Another rising star is Bennett Love from Red Deer, who defended his title at the Alberta Boys U15 Championship over the Labour Day weekend. Turning 15 shortly after his victory, Bennett's consistent performance underscores his potential in Alberta's junior golf scene. Reflecting on his win, Bennett said, "Maybe having the experience of winning this one before helped with the nerves and some challenges along the way."

In a significant move to promote inclusivity, Alberta Golf announced the addition of a Women's Division to the Alberta Open in 2025. This initiative reserves 40 spots for top female golfers, aiming to elevate women's participation in the sport. Additionally, the U17 Championship will now be a standalone three-day event, aligning with long-term player development goals. These changes reflect Alberta Golf's dedication to fostering a diverse and competitive environment for all players.

The province's golf community continues to thrive, with young talents like Rachel and Bennett leading the way. As Alberta Golf introduces new initiatives, the future looks bright for the sport in the region.
